Visual Metaphor

Visual Metaphor are the ramblings of an engineering student up in University of Waterloo, Canada. My favorite rants are about philosophy, morality, religion, technology, society and culture with the occassional psychedelic poetry

MS Questions

Here are some of their interview questions (paraphrased):

  • What should MS do to change their image?
  • Why do you mean when you say that the IPOD is part of a cultural movement? (a question in response to a discussion about IPOD)
  • What are web services?
  • What is your favorite soft drink?
  • What do you see happening in the future in terms of software in a household environment?
  • What is the open source revenue model like?
  • On average, do you think more professionals work on open source software than an environment made of specialized professionals?
  • Isn't open source software more prone to be taken advantage (due to a larger amount of people look at the software)?
  • Per computer, where do you think Microsoft makes more of their revenue- on PCs or Macintosh?
  • What are your plans after you graduate?
  • Why are software developers important?

This was a very interesting interview because the topics ranged from light questions to social/cultural and also some technical. Just the experience of the interview was such an amazing learning experience. There's obviously a difference in the way they screen people since they want to know HOW you think instead of what you know.

"Somehow I can't believe that there are any heights that can't be scaled by a man who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret - curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of all is confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable." -- Walt Disney.
